Originally published in 1903, this volume has a good deal of historical information concerning Harper’s Ferry in the 1850s, leading up to John Brown’s raid, much of Brown’s raid, the civil war in Harper’s Ferry and the reconstruction era, ending not with history but with four odd area legends, ‘The legend of Wizard Clip’, ‘The Enchanted Wheel’, ‘The Witch’s Oversight’, and ‘The Remorseful Dog’.
