October 23, 2025John Tobin, a native of Ireland this day applied to the Court to be admitted to become a citizen of the United States. Whereupon the said John Tobin exhibits a certificate of the Clerk of the Court of Frederick County in the State of Virginia showing that more than three years ago he had declared on oath in the said Court his intention to become a citizen of the United States, which Certificate is in [? scratched out], and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever and particularly to Victoria 1st Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. And it being proved to the satisfaction of the Court by the testimony of Donald Swany, a citizen of the United States who was examined as a witness on oath, that the said John Tobin has resided within the United States five years, at least, and by the testimony of Michael Burns, John Humphreys and Nicholas Marmion, citizens of the United States also examined as witnesses under oath that the said John Tobin has resided within this state one year at least, and during that time has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same, he the said John Tobin declared on oath in open Court that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renouce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty, whatever, and particularly to Victoria 1st Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. And thereupon the said John Tobin is admitted a citizen of the United States.
