October 23, 2025Jeremiah Donovan, a native of Ireland, this day applied to the Court, to be admitted a citizen of the United States, and is appearing to the Court, that more than two years ago, to wit, at March Term 1840, of this Court, he declared on oath his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and it being proved to the satisfaction of the Court by the testimoney of John O’Hara and Edward Burke, citizens of the United States, who were examined as witnesses on oath that since the arrival of the said Jeremiah Donovan, he has resided within the United States five years at least and within the State one year at least, and during that time has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same, he the said Jeremiah Donovan declared on oath in open Court that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria I Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, and thereupon the said Jeremiah Donovan is admitted a citizen of the United States.
