More Bakerton Visitiations; etc.

The M. E. Sunday school picnic will be held at the river, near Mr. “Pet” Moler’s farm, on Saturday, August 26.

These guests are spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Trundle: Mrs. Sarah J. Kramer, Mr. and Mrs. Deboe and children, all of Frankford, Ind., and Mrs. Edna Cromwell, of Adamstown, Md. Mr. Deboe is SState’s attorney at Lincoln, Ind.

On Tuesday the Damascus, Md., Boy Scouts crossed bats on our diamond with our Scout team, consisting of juniors and seniors. The score was a tie, 3 to 3. Time was called by the scoutmaster before the game was finished.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mills, of Linden, Va., spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Carter.

Mr. and Mrs. James Hoffman gave a birthday dinner last Friday in honor of their daughter, Evelyn, who has reached her twelfth milestone. Refreshments were served. Evelyn received many presents. The Woman’s Missionary Society of the M. E. Church also enjoyed the festive occasion.

Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Hetzel and daughter and their guest, Mrs. Frank Boyer, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. William Boyer at Brunswick. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Cooke and daughter spent Sunday at the above home and made the return trip with Mr. and Mrs. Hetzel.

Rev. C. E. Brandt, pastor of the Millville, Shenandoah Junction, and Bakerton circuit of the M. E. Church South, has organized baseball teams at each of the three points. Each team is to be composed of Sunday school scholars only. The league has issued the following schedule: Millville visited Shenandoah Junction August 19th, the score being 17 to 7 in favor of the Junction; Milliville visited Bakerton August 22d, the score being 12 to 11 in favor of Bakerton; Bakerton visits Shenandoah Junction August 25th; Bakerton visits Millville September 9th; Shenandoah Junction visits Bakerton September 12th; Shenandoah Junction visits Millville September 15th; Bakerton visits Millville September 19th; Shenandoah Junction visits Bakerton September 22d; Shenandoah Junction visits Millville September 26th. The Bakerton All-stars challenge the winners of the league.

Mr. Edward Petzold, of Catonsville, Md., spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Maisel and son.

Mr.. and Mrs. Norman G. Houser, of Washington, are spending their vacation with Mr. Houser’s father, Mr. George S. Houser.

Mrs. Florence Knight and children of Stanley, Va., are spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Manuel and children and Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Hill and sons.

Mr. and Mrs. W. J. B. Houser, of Buckeystown, Md., spent Sunday with the home folks, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Houser and family.

Too bad! M. G. Maisel caught the last bass in the Potomac.

Mr. and Mrs. Claude M. Haines celebrated the second birthday of their daughter, Louise, on Sunday. Refreshments were served. The out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Ling and children, of Strasburg, Va., Mrs. Annie C. Haines and son, of Dargan, Md., and Miss Katherine Ritter, of Harper’s Ferry.

Mrs. M. D. Welsh and children spent the week-end at Dargan, Md.

Mr. W. S. Geary spent Monday in Baltimore.

Mrs. Julia Burkett and children, of Washington, and Miss Nannie Ambrose, of Martinsburg, spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Flanagan.
