This collection of papers was discovered in the basement of Harold M. and Lois J. Welsh. The original collection was located in a cardboard box. The box contained labeled file folders with many loose papers located in the bottom of the box. The original papers were loosely organized in the file folders, however many had been misplaced and misfiled throughout years of storage.
The majority of these papers and files originally located in the box deal with the business of running Welsh’s Grocery and Service station during the 1940’s and 1950’s. These papers are of historical value to those studying the Bakerton area or the mercantile business during this period. Other papers contained in the box are personal papers and correspondence of the M. D. Welsh family.
M. D. Welsh was a fixture of the Bakerton community and those who lived within the community often looked to M. D. Welsh for help with official correspondence. Copies of these letters, requests, and other dealings are also located within this collection, however some items have not been published due to privacy concerns.
This physical collection is located in the possession of Kaila A. Welsh-Lamp.
