Obit: James Flanagan

August 13th, Mr. James Flanegan, aged 47 years. No event that has happened in our community for a long time has excited so general and melancholy an interest as the death of Mr. Flanagan. He came to his end, not by the usual means of sickness and old age; for that, while it would have smitten the hearts of dear ones, would not have been so distressing to his family and friends. Death came upon him in an unusual manner, and at an unexpected time– he fell by the hand of violence. In the prime of life, in the midst of his days, in a moment, the glory of his manhood was laid low in the dust, and trusting hearts crushed and broken.
