October 23, 2025William A. Stephenson, a native of Ireland, personally appeared in Court and declared on oath that it is his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States of America and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty whatever, and particularly to William the IV King of Great Britain and Ireland, and he further declared on oath and proved by other testimony to the satisfaction of the Court, that such has been his intention for more than three years immediately preceeding this time. He further proved to the satisfaction of the Court by testimony other than his own oath that he is now upwards of twenty one years of age and that he migrated to the said United States and came to Virginia and resided in the said United States more than three years next preceding his arriving at the age of twenty one years and that he has continued to reside in the state of Virginia from the time of his said migration up to the present time and more than five years. It was also proved to the satisfaction of the Court that during that time he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principals of the Constitution of the United States and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same; and thereupon the said William A. Stephenson declared on oath that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance or fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty, whatever, and particularly William the fourth King of Great Britain and Ireland, and thereupon he said William A. Stephenson is admitted a citizen of the said United States, the Court being satisfied he has complied with all the requisitions of the Law.
