Naturalization: Robert Douglass

Robert Douglass, a native of Ireland, personally appeared in the County Court of Jefferson Co, in the state of Virginia, and declared on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States of America, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate State or Sovereignty whatever and particularly to the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and further declared on oath that such has been his intention for more than three years immediately preceeding this time; he further proved to the satisfaction of the Court that he is now upwards of twenty one years of age, and that he migrated to the United States and resided in the same more than three years preceeding his arriving at the age of twenty one years, and that he has coninued o reside in the United States from he time of his said migration up to the present time, and more than one year in the state of Virginia, and it was also proved to the satisfaction of the Court that during that time he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same, and thereupon the said Robert Douglass declared on oath that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any foregin Prince, Potentate, State or Power whatever and particularly the Queen of teh United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. And thereupon the said Robert Douglass is admitted a citizen of the said United States — the said Court being satisfied that he has complied with the requisitions of the law in regard to naturalization.
