Naturalization Intent: John Lafferty

John Lafferty, an alien, who is desirous of being naturalized a citizen of the United States, this day appears in Court and makes a report of himself in pursuance of the act of Congress, which report is in the following words:

“I, John Lafferty, make the following report of myself to the county Court of Jeffers, in the State of Virginia, that is to say, I report that I was born in the County Tyrone, Province of Ulster, Ireland, and am now about thirty two years of age, that I am a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, owing allegiance to that Monarch, none other, that I migrated from Ireland to the United States, and landed in New York in the year 1822, and that I intend to settle in the State of Virginia, one of the United States. Given under my hand this 19th day of November 1835. John Lafferty.

And the said John Lafferty declared on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State of Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to William IV. King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
