October 24, 2025William Kennedy, a native of Ireland, this day applied to the Court to be admitted a citizen of the United States: whereupon he exhibited a certificate of the clerk of Washington County, in the State of Maryland, and having that more than two years prior to this date he made a report of himself to the county court of Washington County, in the state of Maryland, and also declared on oath in the said court his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever and particularly to the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and it being proved to the satisfaction of the Court by the testimony of James L. Ranson and Samuel Moore, citizens of the United States, who were examined as witnesses on oath, that since the arrival of the said Willliam Kennedy he has resided constantly within the United States and in this State one year, and during that time has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the princples of the constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happenings of the same, he, the said William Kennedy, declared on oath in open court that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty, whatever, and particularly to Victoria I. Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, and thereupon the said William Kennedy is admitted a citizen of the United States.
