Naturalization: Dennis Murphy

Dennis Murphy, a native of Ireland, this day applied to the Court to be admitted a citizen of the United States and exhibited a certificate of the clerk of Baltimore County Court, in the State of Maryland, showing that more than five years ago he declared on oath in the said Court, his intention to become a citizen of the United States; and it being proved to the satisfaction of the Court that since the arrival of the said Dennis Murphy he has resided in the United States five years at least and it being also proved by the oaths of George Mauzy and Martin Grace, citizens of the United States, that the said Dennis Murphy has resided in this state one year at least, that he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. He the said Dennis Murphy declared on oath in open Court that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever and particularly to Victoria I Queen of Great Britain and Ireland; Thereupon the said Dennis Murphy is admitted a citizen of the United States.
