They Want the Railroad.

The REGISTER’S article last week on the proposed railroad through Jefferson and Berkeley counties, from North Mountain, say, to Harper’s Ferry, has caused a great deal of comment, and the one expression from the people along the line is, that they want the railroad. We have already received assurances from enough persons between Shepherdstown and Harper’s Ferry to guarantee the right of way along nearly the whole distance, and they say that the matter will receive their hearty aid and encouragement. This is the spirit that gets railroads. We hope the people along the proposed line will keep the subject hot and promptly take such further action as the circumstances may suggest. There’s no doubt that a road tapping the iron ore deposits, the limestone quarries and cement works between here and Harper’s Ferry would be a good thing and a paying investment.
