CORRESPONDENCE
We publish the following request of several of our readers:
Shepherdstown, W. Va.
To the Honorable County Court of Jefferson County– We, the citizens of said county, living southeast of the Shepherdstown and Halltown turnpike, and entering the same at what is known as “Tanner’s Entrance,” ask an investigation by your honorable body in regard to the rate of toll charged us by the Superintendent of said road. We claim, whereas we only travel three-quarters of a mile on road named and are asked and compelled to pay ten cents for horse and buggy, and other travel in proportion, the rate for the whole distance, that we are unfairly dealt with, and ask an investigation and a correction of same by your honorable body.
Respectfully submitted.
