December 21, 2023George William Hoffmaster of 720 Winchester Avenue, Martinsburg, W. Va., died Wednesday night in Martinsburg Hospital after a long illness. A former resident of Bakerton, he was born at Duffields in Jefferson County, February 27, 1910, son of the late Clayton and Annie Welch Hoffmaster. Mr. Hoffmaster had been employed as a mechanic by the Martinsburg Plant of Corning Glass Works and was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church of Bakerton.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fairy Kidwiler Hoffmaster, at the home; one step-son, Donald Kidwiler, Glen Burnie; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Hill, Bakerton, W. Va.; Mrs. Mary Stemple, Barberton, Ohio; Mrs. Esther DeHaven, Hedgesville, W. Va., seven brothers, Roy and Melvin Hoffmaster, both of Bakerton, W. Va., James, John and Robert Hoffmaster, all of Martinsburg, W. Va.; Leonard Hoffmaster, Frederick, and Harry Hoffmaster, Denver, Col.
The body is at the Eackles Funeral Home in Harpers Ferry where services will be conducted at the funeral chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. David Dawson. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.
