Naturalization Intent: Barney Lynch

Barney Lynch, an alien, who has lately arrived in the United States, and is desirous of being nationalized a citizen thereof, this day appeared in Court, and in pursuance of the act of Congress made a report of himself which report is in the following words: “I, Barney Lynch, make the following report of myself to the County Court of Jefferson County, in the State of Virginia, that is to say, I report that I was born in Ireland, that I am a subject of Victoria the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, owing allegiance to that monarch and none other, that I migrated from Ireland to the United States in the year 1832, and that I intend to settle myself in Jefferson County, in the State of Virginia, one of the United States. And the said Barney Lynch, declared on oath in open Court that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce forever allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria I. Queen of Great Britain and Ireland.
