May 23, 2020Disturbance Among The Irish
May 23, 2020Killed.
We learn that Mr. JAMES FLANIGAN, of this County, near the Old Furnace, was killed by Boyer, a quarry hand, on Wednesday last. The particulars of the affair, as far as we have heard them, are as follows: — Mr. Flanigan went to Mr. Boyer’s house on Tuesday and told his wife if she would stop bring his rails she might have as much wood as she wanted, but when her husband returned she gave him an untrue and exaggerated account of what Mr. F. had said to her, which so incensed her husband that when Mr. F. passed by the quarry the next day he called him and as he approached struck him on the head with a rock which he held in his hand, with such force that he died in two hours. He never spoke after he was struck. Boy has been arrested and committed to jail.
