Harpers Ferry Bridge Constructed

Harper’s Ferry Bridge– This bridge was constructed by Mr. Lewis Wernwag, the builder of several of the finest bridges in Pennsylvania. It is a bridge of four arches, each 175 feet span, and will have two path ways for wagons, &c. We are not judges of such matters, but have been informed by a gentleman of Harper’s Ferry, that one of the principal Engineers engaged in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal location, pronounced it one of the best constructed bridges, in its proportions of timber, &c. that he had noticed in the scope of his travels. It certainly does honor the architect, and its advantages and convenience to the public are beyond estimate. — Free Press
