Pleasant Birthday Celebration. There was a most enjoyable family reunion at Mrs. Francis Griggs Flanagan’s on last Friday, November 1st, it being her eighty-ninth birthday. According to their custom for the last several years, her children, Mrs. Geo. Moler, Mrs. John Licklider, Mrs. F. A. Hopper, and Messrs. John and James Flanagan, the last only being absent, met at their mother’s home near Moler’s. They had invited each member of the families of her offspring down to the great-grandchildren, and the other immediate relations of their mother, to be present and commemorate her birthday in delightful social intercourse and spreading and enjoying a splendid dinner, after which her pastor, who was one of the guests, held devotional exercises and administered the Lord’s supper to Mother Flanagan and her christian friends present. There were some fifty or more guests, including the family of Mr. Dennis Daniels, a brother-in-law of of Mrs. Flanagan’s. Mrs. George Moler being the oldest child, and her birthday coming on that of her mother’s, did the honors of the occasion. Sister Flanagan was the daughter of Mr. John Griggs, of Charlestown, who gave the Southern Methodist Church the property on which their church building stands. She has buried four children and the four remaining are all members of the church and prosperous in life. Age is beginning to tell heavily on the dear old lady but she rejoices in a bright and glorious hope of life and immortality in Heaven. May she be preserved yet many years to prove a benediction to her offspring.
