May 15, 2026This Deed, made this 4th day of June 1855, by and between Michael Doran of Alleghany County in the state of Maryland, and Thomas Boerley Bridget Boerley his wife of the County of Jefferson, and state of Virginia of the first part, and Patrick Hagan, of Jefferson County and state of Virginia of the second part; Whereas the said Thomas Boerley and Bridget Boerley his wife by a certain deed bearing date the 8th day of July 1834, which Deed is duly recorded in the Clerks office of the County Court of Jefferson aforesaid Deed Book No. 34 page 134 &c. for the consideration in the said Deed, did give grant, bargain, and sell to the said Michael Doran forever, certain real and personal property, therein, particularly described upon certain Trusts in said Deed mentioned, and with power to the said Bridget Boerley to sell the same, and with power to the said Michael Doran to convey any of said real property to the purchaser from said Bridget Boerley — all which will more fully and at large appear by a reference to said Deed — and whereas the said Bridget Boerley hath this day sold to Patrick Hagan aforesaid, for the consideration of two hundred and thirty four dollars, and thirty seven cents, a portion of the said real estate, to wit: “All that piece or parcel of land, being a part of a tract called Gulf Mills, situate on the ‘West Bank’ of the Shenandoah river, and being the same piece or parcel of said tract called Gulf Mills that was conveyed by G. W. Sappington, Wm. Lucas, and Isaac Fouke to the said Thomas Boerley by Deed date 23rd Feb 1848, under a decree of the Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery, passed in case of R. T. Brown and Strider, Plffs vs. Miller, Isaac Fouke, & others, defts. & Whereas the said Bridget Boerley hath also made a written request to the said Michael Doran to convey the same to Patrick Hagan for the said sum of two hundred and thirty four Dollars and thirty seven cents, the consideration to be received for the same and said Michael Doran before conveying the said piece or parcel of land to said Patrick Hagan, the purchaser, from said Bridget Boerley, hath required, according to the terms of aforementioned deed, that the said Patrick Hagan hath accordingly paid said sum of two hundred and thirty four dollars and thirty seven cents, the said purchase money, therefore to the said Michael Doran the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Now this Deed witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the premises, and for and in consideration of sum of two hundred and thirty four dollars and thirty seven cents, have granted, bargained, and sold, and do by these presents grant, bargain sell and convey to the said Patrick Hagan and his heirs forever the said piece or pacel of Land above described lying and being in Jefferson County in the State of Virginia, being the same piece or parcel of land which was conveyed by G. W. Sappington, Wm. Lucas, and Isaac Fouke to said Thomas Boerley, by Deed bearing date Feb’y 23, 1849, which is duly recorded in the Clerks office of the County Court of Jefferson County.– And bounded as follows; Beginning at a stone in the west line of a certain strip of land, designated on a plat made by Howell M. Brown as A street corner to No G. thence with same N. 88 W50.9 poles to a stone in Mrs. all [Strider?] line with it 92 E 10.2 poles to a stone corner to No. 8, thence wih the same S 88 E 48.9 poles to a line of A street, aforesaid, with it N.2 E 10 poles to the beginning, containing 3 acres 20 perches and said piece or parcel of land being No (27) seven on said plat made by James M. Brown, and all the right, time interested claim and demand, whatsoever, of them the said parties of the first part to the same. To have and to hold the said piece or parcel of land hereby conveyed and the right, title, interest, claim and demand of them the said parties of the first part to the said Patrick Hagan and heirs forever to the only proper use and behoof of the said Patrick Hagan his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Thomas Boerley and Bridget Boerley his wife doth hereby for themselves and their heirs hereby warrant and defend forever; to the said Patrick Hagan the said piece or parcel of land hereby conveyed against the claims and demands of them the said Thomas Boerley and against the claims and demands of all persons whatsoever and the paid Mr. Michl Doran doth warrant and defend for himself and his heirs the same to the said Patrick Hagan against him the said Michael Doran and those claiming under him but against no other person watsoever.
