At the Standard Lime and Stone Company quarries at Bakerton west of Brunswick, there developed a few days ago four cases of smallpox among the colored laborers. They had been ailing for some time before it was known what was the matter. They were quickly hustled away, and a temporary home built for them in the woods about two miles off, which was ordered to be constructed by Mr. Daniel Baker of Baltimore, the president of the company. The patients were placed under care of physicians and a guard placed around them. The works were shut down and all articles of infection and their camp houses were destroyed by fire.
