DEAR REGISTER — I witnessed one of the prettiest and most enjoyable weddings (of this date) that I have ever witnessed, lo, these many days. The contracting parties were Mr. Albert Watson and Miss Fannie Louthan, both of the vicinity of Halltown, this county. At 5 o’clock p. m., at the M. E. Church South at Uvilla, about 250 persons, relatives and friends, were assembled to witness this most beautiful and sacred scene. At precisely the hour above mentioned the bride and groom-elect appeared marching up the aisle, the former carrying a bunch of beautiful pink flowers. The couple were led by Mr. John Coleman, best man, and Miss Martha Flanagan, bridesmaid.
Marching to the music, Lohengrin’s wedding march, so skillfully rendered by Miss Ruth Brantner, the happy couple faced the nuptial altar with their attendants on either side, whilst Rev. Kilber tied the binding knot, the whole presenting a most beautiful sight. After the words were spoken that made them man and wife, the audience remained seated until the bridal party marched out to the music of the beautiful march by which they entered. Then all repaired to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coleman, a sister of the bride, and whose kind hospitality we can never forget, where a bountiful repast was served by the friendly hostess.
And right here let me say that there is but few if any who can excel her in getting up good things. The sturdy table groaned under the weight of many good things. We say with the prophet of old, “May her barrel of meal waste not, nor her cruise of oil ever fail.” The bride’s presents were numerous and useful. Ere the clock struck the wee hours all had retired to their respective homes and we can only say we hope to have many more such. And now dear REGISTER we will close by saying I wish you had been with us.
Yours truly,
ONE THAT WAS PRESENT.
