May 2, 2024Charlestown, W. Va.— A power line from Charlestown to Shenandoah Junction will be built at an early date by the Winchester and Washington City Railway Company. The power company will run the line from the substation in Charlestown to the land of John C. Burns. It will cross his farm to the land of J. E. Wyatt, connecting there with the right of way of the Norfolk and Western Railway, thence the line will follow the right of way through the farm of Maj. E. H. McDonald to the junction. A franchise to run the line from the junction to the boundary of Berkeley County by way of Kearneysville quarries has already been granted by the county court. Work on building the new power line from Charlestown to Martinsburg will be started as soon as the line from Millville to Bakerton is completed, the construction of the latter being now well under way.
