Baltimore County Commissioners visit Lime Quarry
July 25, 2023Charles Goodman shot and instantly killed John T. Duncan in Baltimore on Monday last. Both were well known men about town, and had quarreled over money matters. Goodman is not unknown in Jefferson county. About twenty years ago he was arrested in Cincinnati, whither he had fled after shooting a man in Washington. He was charge by a detective, who was bringing him east over the B. & O. Railroad, when he jumped from the train near what is now Engle’s Station. One leg and his shoulder-bone were broken, but he crawled to the house of Mr. Raleigh Moler, near by, where he remained for a long time. Although a bad man in some respects, he at the same time had many good traits, and Mr. Moler and his family grew to like him. He sent them many presents after he had returned to the city.
