Naturalization Intent: Michael Cain

Michael Cain, an alien who is desirous of being naturalized a citizen of the United States this day appeared in Court, and in persuance of the Act of Congress made the following report of himself, viz: I report that I was born in the County of Waterford in Ireland about the year 1822 being now about thirty three years old, that I am now a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland owing allegiance to that Monarch and none other. That I migrated from Ireland to the United States about the first of January 1853 and I intend to settle myself in the State of Virginia one of the United States. Given under my hand this 21st day of May 1855, Michael Cain (his mark). And the said Michael Cain this day declared on oath that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever, all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty, whatever, and particularly to Victoria 1st Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
