October 5, 2023There was a very pretty wedding (the first in that edifice) in St. James’ Catholic Church in this place last Wednesday morning, the principals being Policeman Thomas J. Kain and Miss Ella Boler. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. Father Boler, brother of the bride, assisted by Rev. Father Wilson, and was followed by High Mass. Mr. Frank K. Ott acted as groomsman, and Miss Virginia Boler as bridesmaid, and the ushers were Messrs. E. C. Grubb and Chas. Phillips. The bride was neatly attired in fawn silk, demi-train, with silk pasmenterie shade darker than dress, hat and gloves to match; bridesmaid ensuite, and groom wearing the conventional black. The altar was prettily adorned with flowers. The organ was presided over by Miss Mamie Webster, who played Mendelsohn’s wedding march. Miss Ella Hendricks, of Harper’s Ferry, and Mrs. Ella Boler, soprano, assisted by Misses Mary, Lizzie, and Anna Schulte, and Mr. August Schulte, composing the choir, rendered Werner’s Kyrie in C at the Introit. At the Offertory “O Jesu Deus Magna” was sung, closing with the beautiful hymn “Sweet Jesus, Bless Us Ere We Go.” The bridal presents were numerous and elegant, and the happy couple and invited guests were given a handsome reception by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Boler.
