Was One of Jefferson County’s Leading Citizens– Among First to Develop Limestone Resources.
Charles Town, W. Va., July 31.– Mr. John Griggs Flannagan, one of Jefferson county’s most prominent business men and land owners, died suddenly at his home, near Bakerton, Thursday afternoon. On the day of his death Mr. Flannagan was apparently in vigorous health. About the middle of the afternoon he was found dead in a chair. His death was apparently painless and without warning. Mr. Flannagan was a native of Jefferson county, and was about 57 years of age. He was among the first to develop the limestone resources of the county, having had a stone quarry in active operation for many years. A comfortable fortune was made out of it. He is survived by a widow and son. He will be buried at Shepherdstown.
