ARMORY AT HARPER’S FERRY.– A report from the Ordinance Department states that this armory consists of 3 buildings for officers and clerks, 154 buildings for workmen, 2 arsenals, 4 store-houses, 4 magazines, 2 offices, 9 workshops and 5 others in which machinery is driven by water, 1 foundry and annealing house, and 12 others used as coal and lime houses, stables, &c. Value of machinery $147,574. At the Rifle Factory, there are 3 storehouses, 1 office, 10 workshops, and 4 others in which machinery is driven by water, 3 annealing houses, and 5 others for coal, lime, &c. Value of machinery $94,783. The whole cost of buildings &c. from the first establishment of the armory, $4,036,182.13, and the money value of stores on hand, $675,344.37.
