May 1, 2024SURVEYORS ARE NOW CLOSE TO BAKERTON
A party of surveyors have been working for several weeks past on the right of way purchased a number of years ago by the Cherry Run and Potomac Valley Railroad Company, designed as a cut-off between North Mountain and Harper’s Ferry by way of Shepherdstown. They have been working from Harpers Ferry westward, and Thursday morning reached Albert T. Moler’s farm, near Bakerton. They seem to be relocating the right of way, says the Register. It is too risky to predict what a railroad may do, but this renewal of work on this line will revive some hope that eventually the line may be built.
