Michael Welsh, a veteran of the Confederate army and highly respected resident of Hollidaysburg, died at his home, 1010 Church street, on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock, of paralysis, resulting from an accident in which he figured in June, 1919, when he fell and severely injured himself when alighting from a truck. He was never able to walk since the accident. He was born in Maryland, and was aged 76 years, 7 months and 9 days. Deceased was married in Virginia to Mary Howard, and has been a resident of Hollidaysburg since September, 1889. For some years he was a foreman for a contracting company. During the Civil war he was a soldier in the Confederate ranks under Colonel John Knott, and was considered a model soldier. During his residence here he had been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church at 9 o’clock Tuesday monring and two sons– John Welsh, of Johnstown, and Thomas, at home. The funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s church at 9 o’clock Tusday morning, and interment will be made in the new St. Mary’s cemetery.
