Mrs. Alice Hopper.
Mrs. Alice Hopper, lifelong resident of the Bakerton neighborhood died Thursday morning about 5 o’clock. She had been ill for a week or two with pleurisy and this was followed by pneumonia, which quickly terminated fatally. Mrs. Hopper, whose maiden name was Flanagan, was the widow of A. M. Hopper, and was 67 years of age. She was a kind-hearted woman, a loving mother and devoted friend and she will greatly be missed in the community where she had lived so long. She is survived by four sons and three daughters; John and James Hopper, of Kearneysville; William, of Martinsburg, and Charles, at home; Mrs. Charles Googer, Mrs. Francis Cole and Mrs. Hunter Swann, of Washington. The funeral will be held Sunday morning at 11 o’clock at the home, with interment Shepherdstown.
Mrs. Hopper’s last visit to Martinsburg was to attend the funeral of her sister-in-law, the late Marletta Hopper, of East Moler avenue, the last of November.
Mrs. Hopper was here to attend the funeral services of the late Mrs. M. C. Hopper and remained in Martinsburg for some time returning to her home just two weeks ago, after which she contracted cold, developing into pneumonia and expired yesterday.
