Since our last issue, a successful battle has been fought by the Fenian forces, in Canada, after which the organization seems to have come suddenly to grief. Having defeated the Canadians at Ridgeway, the forces under Col. O’Neill returned to Fort Erie, from whence they attempted to cross to the American shore, but were gobbled up by the United States steamer Michigan. The proclamation of the President was then issued, which has resulted in the arrest of Roberts, Sweeny, and other leaders of the movement. This it is supposed will terminate the Fenian furore for the present at least.
