June 14, 2026The shop of Mr. JAMES B. CHENOWETH, of Bolivar, was struck by lightning, on Sunday afternoon last. The most of the weather-boarding at one end was taken off, several pieces of the frame split to pieces, and one hundred lights of glass, out of 120, were broken. A stove, standing within a few inches of a piece of timber which was split to small splinters, received no injury.
In June, 1831, the dwelling house of Mr. Chenoweth, about 200 years from his shop, was struck with lightning, and received some injury about the chimney.
