June 14, 2026YOUNG MEN’S CONVENTION.
At a meeting of the Delegates of the Young Men’s Whig Convention, to convene in Baltimore on the 4th of May, who were appointed at a previous meeting of the Whig Young Men of Jefferson County, Dr. J. J. H. STRAITH was called to the Chair, and Wm. B. THOMPSON was appointed Secretary.– Whereupon the following Resolutions were offered and adopted:
Resolved, That we have cordially received the nomination of WM. H. HARRISON of Ohio and JOHN TYLER of Virginia, for the two highest offices in the gift of this [illegible], and are determined to use all fair and honest means to secure their election.
Resolved, That we, being desirous of aiding and encouraging by every means in our power, the progress of Political Reform, which has begun its glorious march in every section of our beloved country, deem it proper to make a larger representation of our strength in the approaching Convention at Baltimore, than the number already named for our representation in that important body would give us.
Resolved, That the number of one hundred and thirty be added to the delegates already appointed, and that the gentlemen named below shall constitute the additional delegation.
