Obit: John Lamon

On Tuesday last, in the 52d year of his age, of the prevailing epidemic, Mr. JOHN LAMON, of this place. The deceased had been laboring under general debility for some months, but was attending to his usual avocations on Monday, until near sunset, and took a light supper with his family, unconscious of the fatal progress which, under the form of diarrhea, the dreadful disease was making upon his system. About eight o’clock, alarming symptoms appeared, and medical aid was called in. Every effort of skill and attention, proved fruitless; the awful character of the disease was fully developed; and his constitution proved insufficient to stand the shock.

Mr. Lamon was a native of Ireland, but had resided in this town for many years, and was a respectable and good citizen. His bereaved wife and family feel most deeply the loss of a truly devoted husband and father; and although their grief is heightened by the suddenness of their affliction, yet Memory will bring up to them many remembrances calculated to soften their anguish and reconcile them to the common lot of mortality.
